Re: My NC30 Projects!!
You do know that pirelli do the softer diablo H specifically for 400's rather than the Z of the rossos. It's just that they are not widely available.

Re: My NC30 Projects!!
Back to Red/Black now!!
Lots done today. Rebuilt the rear caliper, fitted with a goodridge braided line. Rearsets on, undertray and subframe on, loom fitted back on.
Front wheel off, discs removed and replaced with a good second hand set, rebuilt calipers fitted with goodridge front braided lines. Front wheel gunk'd and polished!!
Carbs cleaned, slides drilled, rejetted to 118's all round idles 2 1/4 turns out
Half Yammamoto system with polished end can fitted, also bead blasted front pipes with all new genuine Honda studs and nuts fitted!!
Right the big one!!
Valve clearances!!
All checked and all just within the tolerances.
cylinder 1 inlets 0.12 and 0.13 outlets 0.23 and 0.21
cylinder 3 inlets 0.12 and 0.13 outlets 0.23 and .021
cylinder 2 inlets 0.13 and 0.13 outlets 0.23 and 0.23
cylinder 4 inlets 0.13 and 0.13 outlets 0.23 and 0.23
All fairly close but thought I would leave alone
Finally dropped the oil and filter and left overnight for it to drain!!
Now im knackered!!

Sounds like you have been busy.
Are the valve clearances a pain to do?

Re: My NC30 Projects!!
To be honest lucky in two ways. Firstly the whole bike was stripped, no front wheel or rads to get in the way.
And secondly i didnt have to replace any shims. So actually it went ok easier than i thought it would be.

Re: My NC30 Projects!!
Honestly Marcus, just read Vipers guide before you do it. Get yourself a Feeler gauge that goes between 0.12 to 0.27 and its an hour job! Thats if you dont have to replace any shims! I reckon mine must have be done recently because they were all the same virtually!!

Re: My NC30 Projects!!
You have done a lot, Kris! So you are glad you did your first time valve clearances? Not difficult to do. Just with good tooling and an hour time.
Rest, chill and have a nice good beer this evening
Oh, mail sent.
