Oil on the spark plugs

Hi everyone,

I have 2 issues with my nc35.

The first is that i smell unburnt gas coming from the exhaust.

The second and the most critical is that the spark plugs are covered with oil.
Can you please tell me what seems to be the problem? And what parts do i need to replace in order to stop the spark plugs from getting wet by oil?

Running too rich? Too much petrol getting in causing wet plugs...

You can often get some on the threads and it looks like it is oily..but it is normal. we had a chap not long back posted the same. I pulled some plugs and we compared...a little oil is alright

On the ceramic and possibly threads this is normal, most deeply recessed plugs have this.

However, if the tips are wet (which I assumed) then it could be fuel residue, combined with the smell of fuel this is the assumption I took.

If you can smell fuel out the back then it isn't getting burned, which means there is excess, some of which could be ending up on the plugs!

I guess you are right. As long as i can remember, i have always found oil/fuel deposits on the threads of the spark plugs. The thing is that this time there is too much of this stuff on the plugs.

One thing i have not mentioned until now, is, that a few months ago i did an overhaul in my carbs. Thorough cleaning and a lot of o-rings replaced with new ones. Maybe, as neo said it is running rich and needs adjustment.

Yes neo you assumed correct! The thing that worried me most was that they (three of the plugs) were excessively wet than i was used to, so a lot of bad thoughts came from my mind such as piston rings,valves and other stuff.

Another thing that i noticed is that the oil level was at the lowest point of the stick.

Don't know really. I also noticed that the fuel pump was not working properly (fixed that, so now there must be the correct amount of fuel running into the carbs).I will be watching it closely from now on, see how it behaves.

Hmmm, yes . I must say that the second pic comes closest. (unless its the same plug). The first pic is not so clear though, so, can't tell for sure, it looks really bad in the first pic .
