crankcase breather, where the f is it?
Looks like the previous owner overfilled the oil in my bike, why didn't I check it!
Seem to have a lot of white smoke from the exhaust, so I've drained the oil and it looks like I'll be doing more initial work than I thought, however Haynes says the crankcase breather may be blocked too, thing is, it doesn't say where it is!
So someone please enlighten me.
Also any other potential problems from too much oil?
Ta

breather is on the top of the rear cylinders rocker/camshaft cover, and the hose connects to the Airbox,

doesnt make any noticible difference but i guess in theory it should help, and maybe lower emissions! after all only clean air is going into the induction and not dirty oil vapour,

if iv done this rite there should be a picture of my carbs above that showes the crank case breather just to the rear of them on the rear cam cover, its the bit with the small k&n filter on it, youres will have a hose conected to the air box, hope this is of some help.

Indeed... is it whitesmoking constantly / a lot?hunter wrote:I hope not to,But that's the norm.
What does the oil look like, have you took the rad-cap off and have a look in there, whats the water look like, any oily droplets? are you loosing water?
Could just be a lot of condensation in the air.. these bikes take a while to warm up fully.
Ditch the oil and coolant and refil from scratch and keep an eye on them.
And it'd be worrying if its the h/g... these bikes are uber reliable even when seriously abused / neglected.. after years on 400 forums i've never seen anyone change vfr head-gaskets
