Right I emailed a guy at dyno jet and I'm waiting on him to get back to me today hopefully, he should be able to get it setup right on the dyno, Its driving me mad riding it like that, overtaking is a bit hit and miss unless your in first or second.

I was going to do it properly. Get the restrictors I thought. Then in my mind it dawned on me that I was paying out the arse to make my bike slower.
My local trusted bikeshop just told me to "just use it" instead of fecking about just dont ride like a twat.
Needless to say. It got to stay at full power. The cert means sweet bugger all.

Re: Bloody Restrictors.
Thats looking quite a good option to me now.
Dyno costs are £40 for initial run then £45 + VAT per hour, going to take about 4 hours.
Thats about £250 so I will have paid near enough £500 for my bike to be at 33 bhp, its a joke.

You might as well not bother paying for your insurance then as it won't be covered in the event of a claim...

It's good in theory, but if something bad happens you'd royally screwed.dx4 wrote:I was going to do it properly. Get the restrictors I thought. Then in my mind it dawned on me that I was paying out the arse to make my bike slower.

Lots of people who say that get accused of being a worrier etc but in 2006 I had a really bad smash that wasn't my fault, somebody pulled out right infront of my at a side-road. It cracked most of my ribs and could hardly walk for a month.
They stripped and checked it that much they knew my headlight was on as they could tell by the lenght of stretch in the fillament from the heat produced while the bulb was on (there was nothing left of the headlights)
I'm sure if they can figure that out they'd notice the restrictors not in there.
If you dont have the restrictors in the insurance isn't valid and you shouldn't legally be on the road so therefor you'd have some liablitiy in an accident even if it isnt' your fault if your bike is checked.
Oh and if you say 'I didn't know they were taken out' its the riders responisbility to ensure all is correct with the bike I believe.
upto you at the end of the day what you wanna do. we've all cut corners etc etc. you might have no problems forever (hopefully) :)

I'm 17 basically so I ain't made of money.
I do want to run it at 33 bhp, I will have to have a chat with my Dad later, its really annoying because most people say take them out and dont be an idiot then the others say get it done right and all this.

Re: Bloody Restrictors.
first of all can you be sure the bike was running ok before the restriction went in, it could be gunked up carbs or something, if it was ok have you checked the carbs are seated back down properly as they would of had them off to fit the restriction and they are a pain to get back on ,i guess there are a few things you can do yourself before you start to spend more money, personally id wip the tank off and air filter ( leave the plate with the rubber stacks still mounted to the carbs, no need to remove this) and try have a look with a torch , failing that get the carbs off and check all is as it should be. its not too hard to do and it beats spending money you dont have if you can possibly fix the prob yourself and learn a little about your bike in the mean time , if you plan on keepin the bike you will prob have to do it in the future anyway to do valve clearence and stuff anyway, ive done this job myself a couple of months ago and took me about 3 hrs to remove -fit restriction- and put back together with plenty of cups of tea inbetween , im no mechanic either im sure you can do it, -_-

Speak to your old man and explain the situation and see if you can get him to chip in to make it legal so your safe and covered if anythign does happen.
I know it's more expensive and you are limiting the bike for a bit but... while many many people and probably even you could get away for 2 years without them in place, can you deal with the consequeneces of someone elses mistake.
if you get T-boned like I was and they check the bike, you'll be done for driving without insurance etc etc even if it isn't your fault!
Most of the time it isn't you you have to keep an eye on, its ever other fecker on the road, doing their hair, eating food, changing the radio and doing basically everythign else but looking where their going!

Re: Bloody Restrictors.
I'm pretty sure its running rich, you can smell it as soon as I start it and it can be a bit of a bugger to start.
My Dad has agreed to pay for me to be legal even though he gave me the choice to take them out.
I got in touch with the dyno guy this morning, I spoke to a colleague of his, he said he was going to get him to ring me back which he didn't
I think I'll try again tomorrow, I need to get the bike done asap to keep my sanity.
