New NC30 Owner... track bike project! Need Help!

So I just picked up my first V4 Honda and I'm terribly excited. After years of campaigning superbike Ducati's, I'm looking forward to playing with my NC30 at trackdays and making bigger bikes look silly.

To start, I'm ditching the front end (can't verify it's straight anyway) and planning to go with an USD modern front end for ease of parts access and much more.

I was wondering if anyone had the specs for the geometry on this bike?

I'm looking for: rake, trail, fork clamp offset, ride height #'s, anything and everything. I want whatever I end up with on the front to handle like the bike should, so I'm going to go by the #'s on this one.

Otherwise, the bike hasn't been run in over a year and I'm unsure of mileage... I'm debating an engine rebuild and fortunately have access to a master race engine builder with a particular affinity for small bore Honda's, so I'm debating going full hog and building something special, or just a service and freshen up and run what ya brung.

Ideas, suggestions, and tips greatly appreciated. Yes I have a Honda manual, HRC tuning guide and found Rick Oliver's specs for the jets already!

Welcome, and your in the right place. quite a few of us on here with 4v ducati's and a few 851/888 owners too. infact it could be said more ducati owners than NC owners lol.
ducati front end is a common mod. standard 65mm caliper spacing forks, use a marchesini front wheel, and do the rick oliver rear hub mod and use a 5 spoke rear to get it to look something similar.
Do a search for ducati front mod, or take a peek around for a bit. fitting kits can be had for reasonable money and well made too.
who you planning on having a look at the V4 for you ? many can rebuild, few can extract lots of power. performance from the V4 isnt cheap to find.
speak to chris at dynoproracing in runcorn for big power gains and an ear to ear smile.

Yeah I've got an eye on some Showa's with internals off a 996 right now, should be able to pick em up cheap, and I have a Dymag 3-spoke mag front w/ iron rotors that'd make quite a solid package. I'm mostly concerned with the right triples to preserve the geometry numbers.

I would love to speak to Chris at dynoproracing, obviously being across the pond (I'm in Boston, Mass), it' sa bit hard to find anyone truly knowledgeable about these bikes. I'd be interested in either getting an engine kit w/ all the parts and having my builder do it here (I may prefer this, so I can get some hands on knowledge of the motor), or also be interested in buying a built motor. I'd want to build clearly for reliability first and power second... but I hope to use this bike to teach a thing or two at my trackdays (bostonmoto.com).

ah i didnt know you were on 't' other side of the pond.
why not just run it as is ? so long as they havnt been wheelied they seem to last very well, kids here abuse them for years and they still keep going. but wheelies does seem to starve the bottom end, on the upside it takes a certain skill (and lack of mechanical sympathy) to wheelie the NC30.

i have some showa forks with race tech internals and springs set up for a 12 stone ish rider, freshly rebuilt over a year ago and no use since, they came from the US strangley!!

with regards the the motor.....you considered ram air? dynopro do the kit and also cams too now i belive, their bikes were fastest at the manx this year...145 mph i think???? i also have a kevlar ram air box going spare if your interested

Need to get the bits flowing... I want to do a proper build, with all the little touches you'd expect from a professionally prepped bike, this will not be a hack job :)

The only issue running it "as is" is I don't even know the mileage or whether it runs currently, it's been sitting for over a year.

I'm not sure what 12 stone is, but I'm 200 lbs, should be about 185-190 lbs come season's start.

12 stone = 168 lbs. but thats setup for a ducati 748, the nc weighs a little less so that may work out for you???

Not entirely sure, but the shipping would definitely be an issue. I'll see what I can turn up here stateside, I have quite a vast Ducati-parts network here :)

Riley, thanks so much for the prompt reply, I'll be looking for a fitting kit as soon as I secure a set of forks and the requisite bits. Going to poke around and see if I can't dig myself up a mag wheel over here, we'll see!
