NC30 info required

Post by Calum »

Hi every one, im Calum and i am new to the forum.

Hi im looking at buying a VFR, which sounds mechanicly fine, it has race fairings with necessary holes cut out for lights it does have original fairing with it but are dropped damaged. We started the bike up jumping it from another bike battery and it started fine, then we removed the jumper leads and the bike cut out soon after. we then tryed to start it again from the spare battery but would not start, we checked the fuses and a 10A fuse had blown, the bloke who owns the bike replaced the fuse with a 15A fuse when he tried starting it up again smoke started coming out of a sealed black box at the rear of the bike.
What is this box, where can i get one from and how much will it be, how much would you pay for this bike?

Not sure which black box you mean. The black box set just above the number plate is the CDI and will be goosed I reckon if it's been smoking. Available fairly easily, have a look at your Regulator/Rectifier which is attached to the Seat sub frame by your left leg. Notoriously delicate and about £60 to replace. Treat yourself to a Haynes manual.
How hard can it be?

Hey, i have decided not to buy it as he wants £500 for it and i dont want the hastle of paying that much then spending an extra £100 for CDI and Rectifier, and then finding out that it still not working.

Calum.

500£ is cheap, but you will most likely have some more trouble with this neglected bike. Which might put you off totally.

I think you have made the right choice.
