Yes, double benefit of firming up the shock and raising the rear ride height.

Stickshift wrote:The link mod is very simple.

You need to drill a hole 10mm apart (centre to centre) from the existing hole in the radius arm. This will raise the rear approximately 35mm (1:3.5 ratio).

Here's a pic of one that has been drilled (original hole being used). The centre-centre distance of this one is too far to use (approx. 13-14mm), some numpty screwed it up.

Doing this firms the shock up a little bit as you're changing the linkage ratios.

Quick correction if I may -

Adding 10mm to the shock length gives you a 35mm raise on the rear - you only need to shorten the bottom link by 8mm to get the same effect...

Hi there, it isn't clear from the above where exactly you have to drill the holes for the Link mod. Assuming that the original hole is a 10mm clearance, do you measure 8mm from the edge inwards and that is the centre of your new hole or is that the gap to the edge of the new hole? A diagram or link to a how to would be very helpful. Cheers, Mark

From the centre of the existing hole, the centre of the new hole should be 8mm away. 8mm centre-to-centre measurement.

This will make the new hole overlap slightly with the standard one IIRC.

Hi guys,

Can anybody tell me what the standard NC30 shock length is eye to eye? I have just bought a NC30 which has an RS250 shock fitted and was wondering if I run it with a 17inch wheel will it give me the exact geometry as standard? (normal shock and 18inch rear..)

Also, I've seen the Mods people are doing with the 750's 17x5 rear wheels. Do they have the exact same offset as the VFR400 and RVF400? I measured my 18inch wheel last night in a crude kind of way and found it to be about 19mm.

Also when people do this conversion are the studs taken from the 750's hub assembly or soursed elsewhere?

Many Thanks.

In the process of doing this but can I just check before I weld up the original hole....

The original hole is 10mm in diameter and to shorten the link its 8mm centre to centre. If my understanding is correct then the centre of the new hole is only 3mm from the edge of the existing hole... Is this correct???? :scare:

There is another way which is an eccentric ride height adjuster:

The alloy adjuster works on an offset hole and you can set ride height to your preference, you can then also tune to your flavour of ride without further mods, sorry for the funny angle on the pic but its behind the pipes !

Is this something you can do yourself? and if so any instructions would be gratefully received... Have the welder poised and ready to go as I type!!!
