thanks for those ! unlucky for me the choke cable is a '1 into 2' thing .. abit like a gyro cable on a bmx.. . and that means that they cost £33 odd quid to replace..................................

Hi Max,
Can you not put new inners into the old outer cables, my bro races Lambrettas and they make their own cables by putting screw ends on. Try your local retro scooter shop and i bet they will sort you out.

right, thanks for all the replies, but ive got a choke cable sorted now!

on to the next issue...

starting the bike from cold... i just started it today after maybe two weeks of it not being run... i did have the petrol tank off and stuff like that, but its still a bit strange...

it will start fine on the choke, the idle seems a bit erratic, and it wont idle at all.. like.. i waited until it was right up to temp, turned the choke off and it would idle for about 10 sec's then cut out.. starts straight back up on the button.. still wont idle.. i did also notice a bit of smoke when the motor was cold, but im guessing this was just due to it not being started up after 2 weeks, and probably due to moisture as well, it was white smoke and not blue..

ALSO... i know that this model of bike redlines at 12.5K, but ... it wont reach that, it will reach 12k (up to temperature  ), and something else i noticed was that it didnt 'bounce' like it was hitting a limiter.. it would just sort of freely rev, but not go past 12 k.

slightly confused..

Sounds like the pilot circuit in the carbs is in need of a clean.

haha sorry about this !, ive sorted the bad idle out.. by adjusting the idle screw..

:wanker:

ive also had a look again at the specs and the bike is only supposed to rev to 12k...

but im guessing it should be hitting a limiter of some sort rather than just .. 'freely revving'

whats the pilot circuit?

also, for piece of mind.. the person i bought the bike off said he had the carbs stripped and cleaned, and said they could do with being balanced...?

Have recently broken my GK71 for spares and still have a few bits left knocking about.

Drop me PM with a list of what you want and I'll see what I can do for you. 8-)
