Woohoo - bonus - we are nearly there!

The limp mode is because the CDI cannot see the speedo - behind the clocks the speedo plugs into a small 3 pin socket - if you had an M Max or other dersitrcotr - it would plug in here. If this is unplugged..plug it in. This 3 pin goes to a larger 6? pin block where the idiot lights also join the lager block. make sure this is all peachy and you have good connections.

The loom mighthave been modded and someone put a resistor in the loop - find that and check it is solder, crimped r whatevr - just find it.lol and make sure it is solid.

You are nearly done man..well done for the patience you have shown - I'll bet the moto rewards you with some good fun now (oo err missus) :spank:

But yeah, the CDI and the Speedo are not in touch...make them talk and you are rocking!

speedo does read mph as rode it yesterday
is it worth me changing the speedo
is this the only thing that makes it go into limp mode ?

right i have totally had it with this bike now

changed the speedo and the ignition pick ups and has not made a blind bit of difference

the bike revs to 5.5k but no more

the you first try to rev from idle front right cylinder appears to be popping (back firing through carb)
took off the timing cover and tried to strobe it up but couldnt get my car strobe to work on it

found i appear to have quite a lot of crank case compression ,is this normal ? engine doesnt smoke !!

please please help i have now run out of idea and got to the end of my tether with it :spank:

Mike,

It sounds like you may have been a bit ripped off by whoever sold you the bike. You say that you bought it as a non-runner and it just needed the exhaust putting on, its obviously not been that simple.

If the bike is going back to where you got it from, how come you are going to take a £500 loss?
