Nc30 Poor running in wet condition

Post by cabey » Wed Mar 04, 2009 5:55 pm

Can anyone help me please. I have noticed in heavy rain, That my bike feels as if it running on 3 cyclinders, at times the only way to clear this is to open the throttle and let the engine revs build up and then it seems to kick back in onto all cylinders. its as if the H.T. leads or coils are shorting out. this problem only happens in heavy rain conditions. runs fine in the dry. Thanks.

you have kind of answered your own question bud, have a good look at the igntion system, check ht leads coils and the cdi.make sure there is no build up of water in and around the cdi and make sure all connections are hunky dory.

I think there are drain holes for when the spark plug recesses fill with water, check to see if they're blocked.

NC30 cdi's are far from waterproof also, check to see whether rain from the rear tyre is getting under the pillion seat.

This always happens to me, if the bike has sat in heavy rain for a while. After about 10 mins of riding it, it sorts itself out, obviously whatever was wet has dried again. I wouldn't worry about it.

I also had a mini and that used to suffer in the wet.

WD40 was the way to go, sprayed liberally over the ht leads, plug caps and distributor and everything worked fine.
Too many bikes, so little time!

Have a ring around some bike shops and motorfactors and see if they sell it off the roll i bought six foot for £10.
