Another 3tj Hybrid Lives
Hi All,
About 4 months ago i started on the path of creating yet another 3tj/fzr600r hybrid. Borrowing Ideas from many on this forum, i set about attempting to follow. Yesterday afternoon i was finally at the stage where i could put petrol in the tank and press the starter button. To my amazement after only a couple of attempts it spluttered into life, all be it on 3 cylinders.
A bit of russian roulette with the downpipes and my hand found which one wasn't firing and thanfully it was just the HT lead not seated on the plug properly, as so many before me have said, there is not much room between the top of the engine and the frame.

when the weather warms up a bit i'll spray the tank and top fairing, other than that it needs the time to complete a few bits and bobs and it should be ready for a couple of trackdays in the spring.
I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all the people who have followed the path before me and posting their results, it really has been the incentive that has got me this far.

Cheers Marb,
Nosecone arrived friday, felt like one of the last pieces of the puzzle.
One of the big things i've got to do is sort out the throttle cables, i'm using one 600 cable which doesn't work particularly well, at one point a whiff of throttle had the engine sitting at 9,000 revs until i hit the kill switch.
does anyone have any experience with venhill cable kits?
One interesting quirk that i had, was the rev counter running going between 0 and 8,000 revs on the odd occassion. Seemed to clear with the fuel switch set on reserve. I am running full 600 loom, ECU clocks, the only non 600 part is the 400 fuel pump. The 600 one had an extra wire, which i assume is for the reserve?
I'll try it again over the next couple of nights if i get a chance.

That extra wire byt he fuel pump will be the signal wire for the fuel level sensor in the tank. The 3TJ has a green plug coming out of the tank, just connect this extra wire along with the ground from the fuel pump and it will stop this dance.
You will also get a fuel warning light on the dash when the level gets low, before you are on reserve!
i had a similar problem with my hybrid, but it was a broken sensor in the tank rather than a discomnnected one.
Alex.

All of a sudden I found myself in love with the world,
so there was only one thing that I could do,
was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long!
