Don't do it. There is nothing wrong with it. The NC23 is defined by its swing arm. If you want a single sided 400 buy a VFR.
Having said that anything is possible with the correct sized hammer.
I don't know if it has been done however you want any info... Considerations: width of the arm pivot compared to the frame, is it too short, too wide, will you need a custom spindle or spacers? Is the length of the arm from pivot to hub different, will it effect the geometry? Will the hub sprocket line up with the front sprocket? How does the rear shock of the VFR compare to the NC23, which would you use, is it offset, longer or shorter, will the ride height be affected?
If you want to do it best advise I can give is with that in mind buy a VFR arm and shock and hopefully wheel from eBay and then line them up and see what happens. If it doesn't work stick them back on eBay, don't overpay and worse case you should make most of your money back. Alternatively take some measurements of the NC23 arm and compare that to the VFR measurements. I think the VFR has already been measured on this site, or at least elsewhere on the interweb as single siders are used frequently in projects.

Re: vfr single sided swingarm on a nc23
Good spot.
From the quality of the pictures and description in the ad I'd say he didn't have a clue what he had. I'd also guess that he invalidated his insurance with an undeclared mod and the assessor knew about as much about bikes as he does.
So from the above we can see it is possible (assuming it is a VFR400 arm, I'm not an expert and can't tell from those photos) to fit one to a NC29. Thus we can extrapolate based on the interchangeability between the NC23 and NC29 arms. Anybody know if you can swap them over and any work required to do so?

NC30 and NC35 swingarms are different, not sure which will be closer to the NC23 dimensions.

The shock is offset to the left on both of them to give exhaust clearances

Re: vfr single sided swingarm on a nc23
zombie thread, sorry. Did this ever get anywhere? I have an NC23 frame and an NC30 swingarm, wheel and shock, and was thinking about trying to put something together.
