That's looking good, excellent you have the tank cover. I can't wait to see it fit to the bike. The only downer would be if you had trouble fitting it,so take your time and do a loose fit before you tighten everything down, I would slowly go around tightening evenly checking all joins for the closest fit. But hey for the price its seems ok.

Yeah i thought it was definitely worth getting the tank cover, id like to get a proper type 7 tank but theres no guarantee the paints will match so thought the cover would at least look good until i can investigate paint match etc. They are throwing in some tank decals for me for free which is cool, maybe needed if and when i get my tank painted. Sounds like good advice regarding the fitting, im going to try and take a patient approach and see just how close a fit i can get.

I've mentioned this in other posts but worth mentioning again. When I got my original NOS Honda lower and rears I had one hell of a time fitting them, It took ages and I really thought I was going to crack them at one point. So take heart that original does not mean easy fit. They now go on and off with ease, I guess they just need shaping to my bike. That's why I say a loose fit first.
You may have to open a few of the holes on your new kit so have a small round file or dremel to hand. I would fit lowers first, hang from the top bolt, then the front small bolt and then the rear bolt.its always worked best that way for me. The nose will hopefully go straight on to the front, depending if you have the infills they would be next, if you don't have them try to get some as it makes the mid a lot better fit wise. The mids, I always clip over the top infill then position and clip near the indicater, while lining up front bottom of the mids onto the lowers, finally adding bolts and trim clips. The rears I position and loosely put in the large bolts, keeping them even, now add the front bolts, loosely again, now add the various screws and clips. Thentightening the front bolts, finally keeping the fairings in position lightly tighten the large bolts, not too much though
I know you didn't ask for help on this but hope it does help you if you have problems.
One thing, seen on a sunny day your bike in that scheme will sparkle and attract many people, I know as mine does. It looks bright next to the myriad of one colour bikes at my local bike meet.

No thats awesome, the fairings that my bike came with were all knackered and came unattached to the bike so i dont really have much of a clue as to how they go on, this will really help, its good to hear from someone who has been there and done it!Durka Durka wrote: know you didn't ask for help on this but hope it does help you if you have problems.

I cant wait to see it fully faired! The news on the fairings has given me a push to get the downpipes cleaned up, they are pretty rusty so im thinking of whipping them off and giving them a wire brush and few coats of high temp matt black paint. So thats the next project, oh and still got to put the carbs back together.

Ive managed to get the carbs cleaned and back on the bike + a nice clean tank without any rusty bits on the inside. Thought id try starting her up and see hows she runs...

Its sounding a bit rough to me, but there is a sizeable hole in the headers where it goes from 4 to 2. I also have an issue revving above 7k, it splutters and dies... anyone have any ideas what that could be?
I also wanted to ask a question about the coolant, i did a change on it yesterday and my haynes manual states that there should be 2.0 litre capacity in the engine and radiator but i only drained out 1 litre (radiator was full)? When i refilled it only took 1 litre to fill as well... Could it be a stuck thermostat?

My haynes says the engine and rad is 2.0 litre and the reservoir is 0.3 litre. I think ill check the thermostat as a matter of precaution as its been standing for a long time and could be corroded. If its stuck in the closed position it could explain why im only draining half the capacity.

Hmm well im a bit baffled, i did a water test on the thermostat and it seems to be opening and closing ok. Ive kind of come to the conclusion that I will never drain the coolant 100% i.e whats sitting in the block and the low points in the coolant pipes etc and i did get a decent splash come out when i disconnected the thermostat so that kinda proves there must still be some left in the system after draining it. A litre still sounds quite a lot though...

Those fairings look awesome, have they aroved from China yet?

Check the battery condition and charging circuit for the revving issue.
I'll say you've ruled out the carbs as you recently stripped and cleaned them.
Actually now I've watched the video it sounds like one cylinder isn't firing (hard to tell as video rarely records this well). Were all 4 headers hot and evenly hot?
