Having owned most models of the 400s I would not in this day and age sink money into an nc24.

10 years ago you could get a minter for about 650 quid. then they were a good bike to buy.

If you plow a load of cash into it youll never want to sell it as youll never get the money back.. also youll probably be wanting a nc30 or 35.

Even the standard equipment on a 30 is so much better than the nc24, brakes, chassis, suspension front and rear and massive brake improvement let you ride rings around it, plus there are more aftermarket bits around for the 30.

If the 24 is of some sentimental value or its for a specific year of club racing then i can understand but plouging loads of money into one hwen the total will let you buy an nc30 is probably not the best thing to do,

again it all depends on what oyu want to do, if you want to have better brakes as stock, a choice of bolt on caliper upgrades, better choice of tyres, ability to be competitive more at trackdays and ride the bike harder then get a 30.

the nc24 has a fantastic motor but the rest of the bike is really undespecced, tyre choice is limited to hardly anything, suspension is crap in comparission.

owning any old bike is always going to be hand in pocket but think about which one you want to be always pocketing. its easy to get dragged down with one.

NC24 is a fun bike for what it is and its limitations and what not, if your happy with that then spend as much as you like, but no point trying to build one into some kind of nc30 wanna be when you can just buy an nc30...

Good post. Thanks. Not really trying to re build a 30/35. More of a play thing really. Seems to be turning into a camping mule anyway. Sissy bar (little low one) and back pad for the wife, lowered pillion pegs. Luggage rack. Soooo not a track day kind of lad, far to boring a rider for all that. Still looks like a racer for now but had half a mind to go street fighter with it, hence the large parts list. Won't be rushing as I don't have a lot of time or spare cash but I will eventually post a few pics. Sold on hyperpro front springs as I've found a matching rear spring. Needed for two up cruising, no hope with the abused shock I've got on now. Your right neo in the fact that if I sell I won't get my cash back but hay ho, got the parts list down to £400 and after the engine rebuild Its had should get my money's worth of riding time. Before I blow this bike up too.

If you tarting it up to sell then you need a cap but for your own pleasure skys the limit.
Ive had my bike since 1993 so work it out, mega amounts.
If you swap you will spend on that so horses for courses.

in that case look up the vfr400 nc21 and nc21k

the nc21 has a nice twin comfy seat that bolts straight onto the nc24

Nice. Good price too. That's made the list. Sub frame is off right now. Looking at raising the back end a bit for added leg room. Looks quite easy. Last day off of the week today though so not much working time left now till next week :(
