Post by Stretch85 »

Does anyone know if their is a throttle tube off another bike that will give me a faster action ? I have tried the plastic pipe mod but nothing will stick to the standard tube

SP2TK has a q/a tube (1/4 turn) but has only the opening cable.
Have you tried pvc pipe solvent adhesive ( it melts parts together.)
I reckon the adhesive in the Q-Bond kits will glue virtually any plastic.
On a scale of 1:10 , I rate it 20.

Yes I gathered that ! ;)
Only a handful of people in the UK have a parts manual.
Doubt they are still available new but try a good Yamaha dealer with;

1KG-26240-00

What happened with the misfire malarkey ?

Have you considered a complete q/a assy and a separate start button ?

Addition;
Unbelievable;

Changed could plugs and leads before I went testing so problem solved on the misfire front, , I'm a little short on room on the bars so its a bit tight for a motorcross job

IMPORTANT ADDITION;

I went into the garage today to see just exactly how much less rotation was required using a 2TK throttle
tube versus a 3EN or Genesis twistgrip.

It turns out (pun intended) that the tube has the same rotation.

It is the throttle quadrant on both the 2TK and YZF750 carbs that reduce the degree of turn required NOT the tube.

I used a universal venhill one on my track bike. Should fit yours if you want a true q/a throttle.
