I used to use split links, until the little bloody clip thing kept going missing...
Might have fitted it wrong but whatever.
Riveted soft link for piece of mind IMO

I may have crashed mine!!!
Knicker brook chicane at oulton yesterday, still a little unsure why exactly it went down, thinking I was Maybe going a little quick for the temperature, not great in my second session.
Crash bungs saved most of the bike, rear set got trashed but managed to get it off straighten the bracket and then put a different gear lever from another set of crashed rear sets.
Got out in the next but one session, was a lot of crashes yesterday morning though.

Split link is all I ever use, get them on properly and they will cause no bother, I use a motocross chain on mine as we'll, a 450 mx bike has 40 odd bhp and the suspension travel and stretch the chain goes trough is way way above anything it'll encounter on a track bike!
Like I say get it fitted right and it'll never come off, I have used split links all my life, I have been racing mx since I was 4 and I have neve had a split link come off or break.

Thats what I want to hear. I use em in work on drive chains etc all the time, and are much easier in general to use.28hodge wrote:Split link is all I ever use, get them on properly and they will cause no bother, I use a motocross chain on mine as we'll, a 450 mx bike has 40 odd bhp and the suspension travel and stretch the chain goes trough is way way above anything it'll encounter on a track bike!

I do occasionally lock wire them on but as long is you are 100% sure you have it fitted correctly it won't come off!

If a split link is good enough for a 300hp drag bike, it's good enough for me

Ordered a load of electrical goodies for the NC from Rick, looks like she's staying for a while now...
