NC35 Troubleshooting

Post by JFCR »

Hi all,

I bought an NC35 a month or so for a reasonable price, although I noticed that it felt starved of fuel at various revs.

I've serviced the bike with fresh oil and new air/oil filter. The sub filter on the air filter was falling to bits so I just removed it. I replaced the fuel and vacuum lines and I still had issues.

Sometimes the bike will start but before long it drops revs and cuts out.

I opened up the fuel tap and it looked okay. I performed the HRC mod to eliminate an issue with the vacuum/diaphragm and the issue is still the same. I will put it back together at some point.

I replaced the rear spark plugs as I had the tank off and they looked okay despite a little bit of oil present. It did turn over after this but died again after a few minutes.

The bike was stood for a year before I bought it.

What do you think it could be? Timing, HT leads or carbs that need cleaning?

Check front plugs and clean all 4, clean and set-up the carbs properly and put your fuel tap back to standard.

If that doesn't sort it then you'll have to do a fair bit more fettling!
