NC29 Carbs

Post by CBR400RR_Repsol »

Hi all

Question about carb ugrade:

So after some reading Keihin 32mm FCRs are the upgrade most used as they fit the standard boot size but I have also read about people using Keihin 32mm CR Specials. As it seems quite hard to get hold of FCRs (none on eBay  ) there is a set of CRs (on eBay near to me). From what I've read (again) the CRs require a bit of work to make them fit?

Does anyone know what has to be done to the CRs to make them work or if they are a good/viable option instead of the FCRs?

Also if anyone had any ideas of cost etc or where best to shop for these that would be great.

Just one more question - which Mikuni carbs are the equivalent of the Keihin FCR as I've just be told that Mikuni are about 1/2 the price with little noticeable difference...

Thanks
KC

Why do you want to upgrade?

I think you need special rubbers to mount the fcr's too.

Hi

It's a project bike...and one I'm going to keep so just looking at everything and anything I can upgrade (within money cost limits!). I'm under the impression that Keihin or Mikuni provide more power and that they're a nice bit of bling as opposed to say Dynojets?

Thoughts? Also where would you get the mods needed to fit these carbs - you say special rubbers?

Some people have said that a small amount of modification has to be made to the frame for these to fit.

I owned a set but have never used them as I sold before attempting.

You can still buy the FCR carbs brand new but will cost you a considerable amount of money.

You will also need a set of Carb Rubbers for them to fit which a very very rare. The ones that are still circulating can be in slightly poor condition before of their age.

I have found the Australian Ebay is a lot better for CBR 400 performance parts.
