Carb screws
I went to strip my carbs to give them a cleaning but at least half of the screws on both the diaphram covers and bowl covers have ringed themselves. Any ideas what I should do next. I'd planned on replacing them anyway with stainless ones, M4 x 10, is this right?
Also, the screws on the carb rubbers don't look too healthy, anyone know what size these are?
Any help would be great.

Re: Carb screws
They tend to do that. They are very soft!
Yes, M4 x 10 mm will do the job. Washers on the float bowls are a very good idea.
An impact driver will do the job if you can brace the carbs well enough - carpet works well. Otherwise, liberal dosings of WD40 and give them a go - vice grips if they fit.
I couldn't source any cheap hex head screws in the correct size, so I use nickle plated phillips heads. They have survived hundreds of carb surgeries! But stainless would be preferred muchos!
As for the carb rubber screws: M5 x 25 mm

Hello
I'm being dense but are they the same bolts top and bottom?
If they are that would mean 36 bolts right?
Oh and how many carb rubber bolts are there?

Re: Carb screws
Top (slide cover) are 10 mm length. Bottom (float bowl) are 15 mm length with a spring washer - the washers make life a lot easier. 10 mm aren't long enough on the float bowls.katana wrote:Hello

16 top and 12 bottom = 28 all up. It's handy to grab a bolt for the choke linkage too while you're at it - 10 mm with washer does the trick.
There are four carb rubbers which take two bolts each = 8 bolts.

Re: Carb screws
That's the trick! I'm a big fan of blinged carbs! I don't like to say it (much), but my carbs are the best I've everseen! HRC'd and shiny to the maxkatana wrote:Thank you I'm poping over to a stainless steel place today so am trying to get all the bits I think i would need in one visit.

Button head hexes are definitley a bonus if you can get them! I can't
