NC23 CBR400 Bottom end blown - 600 Replacement? [VIDEO]
Hello, right this video explains all that has happened.
I am looking for a replacement engine however is it an easy enough move to replace with a 600 engine?
Have just been looking around and i've found that the CBR600 engine between 1986 and 1992 ( i think ) Jellymould Models fit the frame.
The only adjusts that have to be made are the straps on the head need to be moved and mig welded back in place.
I've just found this engine, CBR600 F that fits in the year range and looks identical to my engine (although cant be sure) and was taken out of a CB1 400, and again after a little looking looks very simular in the frame.
Would this be an ideal replacement
Would any adjustments need to be changed to loom?
Is it a stright fit and then just adjust the top head mounts?
I guess i would need the CDI, and can this just plug stright into the loom?
Anyone with experence on this who could shed some light would be awesome, thanks.

Ideally you want the complete 600 loom as well

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

get the lump, loom & CDI from the 600 donor bike.. basically get as much as you can from the 600 as you can inc Carbs.
I bought my project already frame adjusted but with a shagged 600 lump, i had to strip the lot off & start again. sadly funds & time have hampered the project the last 6-8 months.

maybe a bit more than your planning but here is a link to a magazine article in a pdf along those lines. I also have an article on a 23 with a fireblade engine.

My donor lump came with original carbs still on & i have left em on.. bought a CBR6 set of pipes.
what bolts ON the frame/front end is CBR400
what goes/bolts IN the frame is CBR600
so buy what you need based on that..
article is a good read.
