Need to get a new engine for my nc30 so just wondering is there any difference in mountings, electronics etc between the years? can i get any engine and bolt in or does it need to be an 89 one?

No difference I don't think, should be fine as long as it's an NC30 engine :peace:

You technically fit an NC21, 24 or 35 too - but they take more than plug and play.

Any NC30 motor will fit straight into your bike.

So long as its a jap import one and not a UK spec motor or you will need more bits to fit it (which you will struggle to buy)

was hoping no one would as that  for some reason, i can only think i didn't select the gear properly, it jumped down from 5th to 4th when i was about halfway through the gear which obviously wound the engine right up, I can only think that the valve springs on the back right hand cylinder must've been weaker than the others as the valves on that cylinder hit the piston, completely mashed the piston head and barrel... i would repair the engine but because the barrels scored the parts are only slightly cheaper than a new (used) engine, so going to either keep it for spares or split it right down and sell the good parts on... bit annoying though!

It's an 89 bike, they only came in Japanese ;)
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

UK bikes have an oil cooler, so obvious if yours has one already...
