Surprised its lasted this long

The original reg rec on my 30 died. Was always riding my luck.
Having bought a new reg rec and fitted tonight, I was getting voltage readings of 13.4V ish at 5k revs. I was expecting to get closer to 14V to be honest. If this is on the low side, what can I do to improve it? Wouldn't be surprised if there is corrosion in the other plugs around the charging system so I'll check these. Any other suggestions?
Cheers folks
