Stick coils?

Post by Hopefuldave »

I suspect the coils on my lad's 400VVT "we" are getting up and running for after his test may be iffy (hoping it's not the CDI box...) - has anyone swapped from the standard coils to coil-on-plug stick coils, and if so... which ones fit and leave enough clearance for airbox etc.?

Also... anyone know where I can get (even download) a workshop manual for it? It's a Jap-spec (restricted) GK75A model (unfaired, twin front discs).

Cheers,

Just done a stick coil conversion on my GPX750R. Write up is here: GPX750R

I used coils from a 2007 R6 and they fitted perfectly. I suspect that your wells may be shallower though but the rubber seal can be slid down the coil.
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Thanks, I've done the conversion before (on my ZZR1100), so I'm familiar with the process, was wondering whether any of the coils are shorter / the right height for the 400 VVT head so that they don't get in the way of anything - I think I'll have to tour a couple of breakers with a 6" rule!
