nope.! fixed.... stupid, stupid fucking rear sets..... one of the main screws that hold the rearset was loose, so i tightened that in all the way and it came out of the back and started to get infront of the chain and each time the chain spun it made the noise... cant believe i never thought of that at first
anywa. delete this topic if you want mods. problem solved.

I think you need to sit down and just work through this bike mate instead of buying fancy kit. After all it is your life everytime you ride it.

I read with entertainment your review topic on your rearsets, they have screws loosening still??
Is this perhaps because you have "re-tapped" them numerous times?
This doesn't strike you as a problem at all??
Mind you I guess you don't need the one with the rear brake on it eh??

Please, please take ibby's advice - don't become a statistic (you do have a donor card don't ya?)

Your a bit, er how can i put it. A bit gung ho! and chill a bit.
Before removing anything or adding anything you need to make sure you know what your doing, and if you dont study your haynes manual before tackling job.
When you removed the cover i guessed you removed the spring loaded bar that goes onto the top of the case and attaches to the clutch cable?
Needs to be placed back in and rotated until it slots into a half moon socket on the inside of the cover and in turn engages a bar and the clutch.
Its hard to explain you just need to look at it and figure it out, or look at you Haynes.

Re: strange noise problem, (video)
that spring is there... it just wont work. i have looked at the haynes but the haynes is saying jack shit. im gona take a loooong brake before attempting it.
@perculiarraddish
the main screw unloosened because i hadnt tightened it all the way in at first. and no ive only tapped it once on this side and once on the brake side. and they are working perfectly fine.

What is with all the swearing?xivlia wrote:can anyone now please tell me how FUCK do fix my clutch cable? it was fucking working untill i removed the sprocket cover and now when i put the cable back into its place the clutch cable wont work... there is no resistance. there is no spring back... i am about to fucking burn this bike....
Are you angry at the bike?
It's quite obvious that you've either broken something or reassembled it incorrectly if it doesn't work now.
The sprocket cover can be a bit fiddley, examine it with it off the bike and see how it moves when you pull the clutch lever, you should be able to work out why it's not engaging.
I still recommend you get someone with experience to help you with the bike.
It should take less than a day to go over the bike with a fine-tooth comb, check, set and calibrate everything as necessary.
Only longer if things need replacing.
Surely there is somebody nearby who can give you a hand that has expereince working on these, they'll be able to show you how to do it properly, instead of getting angry all the while, when it's from your own action that broke something.

Re: strange noise problem, (video)
nope no one here mechanical enough to work with a "sorry to say" 20 year old junk, everyone that i know knows jack shit about a vfr400, they know more about newer bikes that have FI's, my uncle knows a lot about both, but hes working off shore so thats not helpful. i can take it my local mechanics to get it looked at, but the damn clutch wont work.
haynes is my only helpful friend. which is ironically useless to me.... it doesnt even tell me how to re assemble the clutch cable... it just says... " slacken nuts A and B... draw the cable out like in figure 14.2....." "reassemble everything the way yah took it out.".. that to me is not helpful, i was expecting more, in depth explanation on how the spring back system is adjusted, how the cable is routed around that little mechanism that spins around like a bitch, but each time i put it and it comes out.. and thats what she said.
