strange noise problem, (video)

Post by xivlia »

yesterday when i went to ride my bike, i noticed while going the bike was making strange rattling noises. i knew it was the chain, it was very slack. so i adjusted the chain, but the problem is still there... it sounds like something is grinding, and it is coming out where the speedo cable connects into. which i assume is the front sprocket? any idea why it is making this stupid noise?

Video the slack, movement,

that sounds like a classic tight chain, however it could be a stuck link, how well and often do you lube, what are the condition of the sprocket teeth, how old is the chain

well the chain and sprockets i have not touched. so i have no idea how old they are... i do lube with chain oil every so often, but i can see some rusty links. i will make a video of the slack in an hour or so.
