Fuel leak from tap?

The genuine kit does not come with the o-ring for the fuel tap.
Honda part number for that o-ring is 16958-KY6-003.

Sorry if this is a bit of a thread hi-jack but my fuel tap is also leaking. Strange thing is it seems to be coming from the riveted side of the tap, the not serviceable side. Anybody had this before?

The annoying bit is the tap part and vacuum diaphram are in great condition.

Well I decided there was nothing to loose so drilled out the rivetted over bit and removed the cover. There is an o-ring type moulded seal so I removed that and soaked it in petrol, hoping it would swell slightly as the tank has been standing dry for a while.

I am now drilling and tapping the housing for M4 screws, and running a file over the mating face to level it off and clean it up then assembling it all, possibly with either a touch of fuel resistant gasket sealer around the outside.

I've got the same problem as the rest of you, removing it this weekend.

Could be the ethanol they're using these days or the fact the rubbers are old !

I have just put it all back together and my rescue has worked - no sign of a leak. I am not sure if the rubbers had dried out or the rivets had lost there tightness but its good to know it can be fixed. I have taken pics and will upload when I get some time.

What I did find is that there is a spring loaded ball that moves between the 3 positions. 2 of these have rubber seats and as the ball moves from one to the other it marks the rubber which may eventually wear them out completely but for the most part it just seems to get dirty and therefore stops sealing.
