525 sprockets 520 chain...help
Hi all,
Just come to fit new chain and sprockets, cut old chain off all sprockets changed, come to thread new chain and noticed it's a 520 chain!!!
Can this be fitted or is that never going to work.
Got the chain from GF ages ago, left a message and hoping it can be swapped...until then the bike is off the road.
Matt

Nope. 520 is thinner than the 525. Even if it were the other way around you wouldn't want to fit a 525 chain to 520 sprockets. They must all be the same pitch.

Do you not fancy buying some 520 sprockets and run the 520 chain?

I'm not sure RCJ was offering to sell you sprockets, but instead asking why not use a 520 kit instead; either now or even when you're done with the 525 kit.

Spot on, just thought it might have been a cheaper option to maybe buy some 520 sprockets instead of buying a new 525 chain?Speedy wrote:I'm not sure RCJ was offering to sell you sprockets, but instead asking why not use a 520 kit instead; either now or even when you're done with the 525 kit.

Ahhh gotcha, a good thought, thankfully Graeme has said he'll swap the 520 for the 525 required. Cheers.reverse cylinder jim wrote:Spot on, just thought it might have been a cheaper option to maybe buy some 520 sprockets instead of buying a new 525 chain?Speedy wrote:I'm not sure RCJ was offering to sell you sprockets, but instead asking why not use a 520 kit instead; either now or even when you're done with the 525 kit.
