oil in air box???

Post by duggyr » Thu Feb 09, 2012 9:36 pm

ive just removed the aie filter and found what looks like engine oil in the air filter box. it appears to be coming from the breather pipe from the black box on top of the rockercover of the rear cylinderhead dosent seem to be a leaking head gasket. is there a major problem???
the bike seems to runs to run ok except for poor tickover that is why i have just removed the carbs.

That's what the breather's for. Check that the oil level isn't too high (or too many monos!?), I wouldn't be concerned otherwise.

read on another forum that it could be due to worn rings or barrels or leaky valves? but this was concerning other bikes like a triumph. sorry oil level loose ok and not pulled any wheelies ;-)

it is normal - the pipe lets the oil mist in the engine breathe out and is ingested again by the motor.

Not a problem unless it is swimming in oil!
