NC30 Electricals

So yesterday I fitted a new end can to my 1992 NC30, no problem with that (the oem pipe was already cut).

And obviously I wanted to hear the sound difference, so I went to start her up and the battery was flat, no problem there. Hooked it up to my trickle charger and left it to charge. Charger fully charged the battery and I put it back in this morning, but when I turned the ignition on nothing happened, no oil light, no neutral light, nothing.

So I checked the fuse box under the pillion seat and they all looked fine apart from two empty fuse slots (second from left and top left as you look at it from behind the bike), but the bike has started and run with no problems before so I don't think that's a problem.

If anyone has any ideas or has had this problem before I'd really appreciate some input and advice/problem solving help!

not empty slots mate, thats how its made, look at the inside of the fuse box lid.

There is a main fuse as part of the starter solenoid, the contacts for this fuse can become degraded and stop battery power to the ignition switch.

Sounds like your Battery has died?

Have you tried shorting the battery across the terminals?

Take the battery off the bike and put a spaner from the Pos + to the Neg - and see if it gives a spark?

Could somebody tell me where to find the starter solenoid? (first bike ive let myself put a spanner anywhere near)

I had the battery hooked up to my oxford oximiser and it said the battery was fully charged (this was after I took the battery back off the bike just to check I hadnt shorted it somewhere), but I'll stick a spanner across it later and see.

Anymore ideas and advice on fault finding would be well appreciated!

Just got in the garage, starter solenoid fuse is fine, and put a allen key across the battery and it sparked nicely.

So back to square one!

Nevermind! My dad suggested putting the battery back in and leaving it for a bit, so I went off for a cuppa and came back, now its working! who'd have thought it!
