engine swop out

Post by blackduck » Mon Jan 16, 2012 1:57 pm

hi guys,

2nd gear went on the bike late nov, and things being tight money wise thought id investigate myself.....then realised more to it than i could handle...so stopped and put back as it was......now mates sv650 3rd gear went early last year and cost him almost 600 to get fixed...so i thought, buy engine and just swop out!

swoped engine and have it firing as in the manual 1-2-4-3 but sounds rough.... now i realise i may get it balanced but my question is this....would it run in other firing sequence or would it do damage?

great little bike up to now but getting frustrated a bit now....

any help greatly appreciated

how do you reckon you have it firing in anything other than the right sequence?

If i remember correctly im pretty sure from left to right of the coils it is 1-4-3-2 as tanuki said.
First coil being 1 and 4 second coil being 3 and 2

Firing order is 1-2-4-3

Also make sure you have the wires going to the coils right, blue/yellow tracer from cdi to 3-2, Yellow/blue tracer from cdi to 1-4 and black/white from cdi to both coils, if i remember the black/white go on right connector and coloured ones go on left connector.

Hope this helps

will swap around tommorrow and let ye know....once again thanks again to everyone for the replies. bighug

no problem mate, i have built a few cbr4's, and use to make the same mistake with the firing order of the coils lol.
