I would say that with 70bhp and a 140kg bike the YZF600 / TRX wheels (5" and 160 profile tyre) is too much. I'd look for a skinnier wheel and tyre to save weight and get quicker handling

And what of a 18" inch wheel with a 165 that I'm running now?

Way to big, you could put a 750 engine through that.

Anyways... Something is wrong with SB engine, possibly a stuck valve or something don't really know yet. I haven't cracked it open, gonna send it off to Steve at Speedwerks (FZR speacialist in the States ), gotta call him tomorrow.

Anyways. A couple of questions. I bought a ebay stocker and put it in. Also picked up some parts from another racer.

So I put on the stock carbs, and am running the stock airbox. I installed the Factory Pro stage one jet kit today. All I gotta say is Minuki's are weird ass carbs. I've only dealt with Keihins up untill now.

Jet kit came with larger pilots (I believe 40's or something) I took the stockers out and put those in. It also came with 85 jets which is down from stock but due to the larger pilots that part I understand.

Now the needles were weird/ a pain in the ass. It has a clip on it, but it also has a nylon spacer and a washer on top of that. Strange part is that the nylon spacer wasn't all the way at the top of the stock needles and on the FP needles it didn't go up that high either. Is this normal? And don't even get me started on the damn way you have to put that stupid slide plunger holder thingy with a flat head that is made of plastic and wants to cross thread.

Also I have the fuel mixture screws at 3 turns out as FP stated. But it is hanging up. Tells me it's lean so I may go to 3.5 turns out. But have to wait until the airbox rubbers come in. The ones I have fitted I had to put in my oven to get them soft enough to go on and that was a pain in the ass also. But they are pretty much on but can't say for sure if that may be the reason for the hanging up though.

I ran the bike down the street and from 10K to the top it ran fine, but the bottom end was terrible.

Any recommendations?

The other thing I noticed is man this thing reminds me of a damn 999 with it sorta stretching you out. Like the seat to clipon length is long. Anyone else feel anything similar? I'm used to Hondas and this felt weird.

The green bike is going to be the super bike. Once done with it I'm looking to get a healthy 80hp with the flatsides and pods. But that'll be after sending it to Steve.

But I would like to keep the Yellow bike stock and possibly legal for DSS. If I can get 65-70 out of that one I will be happy.

Airbox not on yet.

Soon to be superbike motor on left and ebay special on right.

I always run away from carbs !!!
I clean them happily enough but don't touch the settings and I don't know anything about the Factory Pro jets ... although I asume it's similar to a DynoJet kit.
Get the airbox rubbers sorted first and if you don't get any joy take it to a dyno - I know it's more expensive but it does cut to the chase.

I've always found the it a bit weird with the pegs being straight down from the seat but it helps when you load the pegs to turn the bike. It's deffinatley oldskool but it's what I'm used to, ride them for a while and you'll get used to it.
