nc30 carbs-do i have a bit missing?

Post by leerc » Sat Dec 10, 2011 1:59 pm

on attempting the balance the carbs i removed the tank and airbox (minging btw so that needs doing aswell) i noticed on the back of the airbox theres a lil box with 2 conectors for some sort of pipe but theres nothing there-theres nothing inside the lil box either

just below that between the 2 rear carbs theres another tube like conecter that turns freely with no pipe attatched

am i missing a few bits

A pic would help. But I agree with lizard mine has nothing in there either! Some pipes in that area are just breathers for the fuel tank also. Was the bike running ok before this would be my question!

Either the bike isn't warmed up or the carbs are not set up properly.

Off throttle it'll be mostly float-height and pilot circuitary and jets so all the tiny passageways need to be clean, pilot screws set to appropriate richness and float heights at correct levels in all carbs.

As Mark said, the small area is a sub-filter. It filters the air that goes to the throttle slides to prevent them dirtying up, it's a small piece of sponge, theres two pipes that connect this to the carbs.
