M Max derestrictor

Post by mattiec321 » Fri Dec 02, 2011 1:46 pm

Guys,

I have brought one of these. Just a quick question. Does it plug in serial to the cdi or does it go behind the clocks?

Depends what restrictor you are talking about..

The HRC speed off unit (and many clones) have two plugs and go in a loop with the ignition box.

The M-Max and some others only have one plug and go on the plug that originally went to the clocks (leaving the clocks plug unconnected.

You can't mess it up as all the plugs are different so it will only fit one place.

Right o.

the item arrived today.

It is a M Max box and has two qwhite 6 pin plugs.

I have looked at the new loom I'm goiong to be putting into my bike and it has different coloured wires to the CDI so I think I can rule out the connection at the CDI.

Cheers all

That plugs in at the ignition box end, ignore the fact the wires are different colous.

Thanks guys,

I have over the last couple of days replace the whole loom, coils (Thanks Pete J) and pick up coils. I also found that the funking monkey brained plank that charge the previous owner £650 to diagnose and repair an electrical problem had chopped off connectors to the pick ups the generator and the CDI.

I have replaced the plugs on the CDI and the 3 pin on the generator, which I did not have a spare, came off the old loom and had the original female connectors from the plug opened and re-soldered on. The plugs which were on there were the spade crimp connectors. One of which had fried.

Any hoo I digress. Once all back together I spun up the engine and checked from spark at all four caps which was a success. I then pushed in the M Max box and the spark remained. So I had answered my own question in a sense.

I just wanted to be sure.

Now to tackle the carbs again......................
