Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
I am using the Rd's swingarm!
I wouldnt be able to go to 20mm
the LC was 15mm originally, and I have opened it up to 17mm for the 1wg spindle. There wouldnt be enough metal to be comfortable with removing another 3mm (Ive removed all the material form the bottom of the slot i the swingarm, as this allows me to be sure I still have the axle parallel (well as parallel as Mr Yamaha made it in 1980!), not having moved the top of the slot.
I can see this part on www.bikebandit.com, but have no idea if a 1989 FZR400 from the US is a 1Wg with a 17mm rear axle (its a US based site).

Yes, the US 1WG is our Genesis- all of the 1WG rear wheels are the same (1WG through to the 3EN2). I seem to have lost a post somewhere- I've got the spacer you want (not spare I'm afraid) but I could make a copy of it if you're stuck?alext wrote:I can see this part on http://www.bikebandit.com, but have no idea if a 1989 FZR400 from the US is a 1Wg with a 17mm rear axle (its a US based site).

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
well, i have found my problem
I have the wrong wheel!!
is a 17x3.00 and looks like it comes off an 3e fzr600!!! - it has the big diameter hub
hence the fact the discs are about 3mm further apart.
is anyone able to measure a non 3tj fzr400 ( a 1wg or a 2tk) and tell me the distnce between the discs inner-face to inner face and see if its the 124mm, as the 3.00 wheel from one of them will do me fine.
ta
Alex
BTW - if the discs came in 1.5mm each, then the triumph TT600 calipers I have, will fit perfectly - right now with the setup I have, the discs are not central in the calipers - if the wheel was 3mm narrower, it would be perfect!
