3tj wheel/brake issue....
i have a 3tj front-end I bought off flea-bay that im fitting to my 350lc.
I have just finished rebuilding the brake calipers and on fittig them to the forks, the discs dont appear to be central in them.
its as if the discs are too wide for them.
should the 3tj discs be dished or flat? if dished, anyone know the offset?
I also seem to have the wheel offset to one side, but that I can sort with spacers.
this is confusing - i didnt notice anything wrong when i took it all apart
help!!!

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
you sure you have the spacers in properly?
sounds like the wheel issue is causing the brake issue.
pics tell a thousand words

I'd go with the spacers too.

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
there is only one space and its fitted!
I appear to have a couple of issues.....
I think the discs are the wrong ones, they have too much dish.
I also think it may be the wrong speedo-head - I have 2 and one has a lip (spacer of about 1mm) cast into it, the other doesnt, so Im going to swap them over.
is the 3tj wheel identify-able by any casting marks or part numbers?
I have a friend with a 1wg - Im going to compare my discs to hers, as they are meant to be

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
I believe the 3tj is F-52 cast onto the 'spoke' if i remember correctly!
3tj have a spacer on the right of the bike and a speedo hub that has a set of parallel lins for want of a better description that lock into the tab on the left side fork.
You do have the calipers on the correct side don't you?As fitting them the wrong side will cause issues! on mine the named bit is on the inside!

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
looking at that picture - that front disc has much less offset than the ones I have.
could I ask you to measure the height from a straight ruler across the outside of the disc, down to the flat surface that the bolts go through in the centre (to get me the offset of those discs to compare against mine)
Im pretty convinced its the discs that are wrong on my wheel, and if so I would be interested in the correct discs you have.

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
I can tell you the the disc face to disc face when mounted on the 3TJ wheel dimensions are
Internal = 124.1mm
External = 132.0mm
Internal = 124.1mm
External = 132.0mm

ah well, mine are 127mm between the discs
can i ask you to measure as i asked before - that will confirm if my wheel is wrong, or as I suspect, the discs are wrong

Re: 3tj wheel/brake issue....
Ok .... it will probably be monday before I can do this though.
An informed guess would say 10mm though.
here's some pics in the mean time
