GK76a rear shock and swing arm

Post by matttaylor69 »

Hi does any body know weather there is any good newer rear shocks that are a straight swap for the GK76a? Also does anybody know how hard it is to fit a GSXR 600 K6/K7 swing arm to a GK76a?

Cheers

Almost straight swap is the k6/k7 shock, just turn the top mount on the 76a upside down to keep suspension geo right and space the dog bones with correct size washers to clear the spring on the heavier shock...easy. If you insist on fitting a braced swingarm why dont you use a 73a braced arm which is a direct fit, saves a load of time and head scratching.

K7 shocks drop right in. I left my top mount in place to be sure the top clears the battery box. Possibly raises rear ride height, so that's not usually a bad thing ;)

I have recently had success with a 2007 ZX10 rear shock in my gk76 race bike. Bolted straight in, only had to do a slight mod to the airbox as the shock reservoir presses up against the bottom of the airbox. Works good. Not sure if battery box would be in the way on a standard bike though.
