Re: Howto: K&N Filter for NC30
ive always been convinced that the standard paper filter was EXTREMELY restrictive, especially as i found mine clogged with yellow glass fibers from under the tank insualtions, i changed it for a new one and still found it shit.Drunkn Munky wrote:Yeah we all know thats the logic but Nc's dont generaly like logicporndoguk wrote:cold air = more oxygen = better combustionGood to see your giving it a go tho, lets hope you see some good results.
So when you did the first mod to try and lean the mixture out did it work? or do you think the standard filter was restricting that?
so added the holes, which made no noticibly difference but didnt break it either so i thought K&N next then the search began MONTHS ago, and this was the end result, i did the same with my peugeot 206 with great results. again did a how to with a K&N Panel filter, im not expert or scienctist but i like to try stuff.
when i got rid of the 4m of pipeing, and plenum chamber i fitted a rubber scoop and got the car dynoed.
on paper it was 110BHP 1.6L 16V - i was running standard exhaust, K&N panel filter and ran it on shell Vpower, and the first dyno run i had was producing 119.3BHP i then had it chipped but because i was one of these that jumped the cue to get the car done that day as a favour i didnt get a return on the dynbo after it was chipped. so i still to this day dont know what my 206 is kicking out. i then changed the back box to get a better back pressure and shes a great car but im selling this year as my years of cars are long gone, they dont do it for me.

PS i didnt want to go down the K&N induction route as i wasnt a fan of the sound, or poor economy wanted good performance, reliabilty, and this was the best effect and even jayson at chipped uk said that he was intrigued and amazed with the result with minimal costs!

Someone should lend me their modded airbox with K&N filter and I'll dyno that compared to my foam filter and also the standard filter.
Now that would be interesting....

Re: Howto: K&N Filter for NC30
been out for a ride and its bang on.
done some varying in riding didnt some motorway, up to curts at the RAF, done some duel carriage way twisties etc and its fine bottom end righ to the top end, done 40miles on it and im extremly happy with it. next stop the DYNO
picks up really well in first gear, although i made myself look a right prick at one set of lights when i was in second gear and had to give it some beans on the clutch. i could have swore i was in first,
need to tighten my clutch a little too, seems a bit loose on the gear changes, hard to find neutral etc, so maybe a little slack. new cable BTW.
i do however need to get used to the QA throttle seems to over fuel at times and getting the right launch its all new learning for me,
overall thoughts on £28 spent on the K&N well worth it.
also £12 to fill the tank from reserve last year cost me £15 today
