Charging system readings with uprated parts

Post by Drunkn Munky »

Bearing in mind i have the GSXR genni conversion and R6 reg on my bike would a reading of 13.5V idle and 16V @5k rpm be normal? Haynes manual and the guide on the home pages states a max of 15.5V and normal reading of around 14.5. Should i be concerned?

16 @5v is too much dude.

if you check the AC guides - you see 50v AC @ 5k revs for a std genny.. mine was hoofing out 80+

the battery doesn't want to see anything too close to 15V whatever is charging it..so reg rec seems to have gone french on you..

Would it be a case of the red and green wire being the wrong way round? It meant to be opposite to the NC30 setup but i only had some dodgy pics to go on.

There usually 14.1 - 14.4v no matter where the revs are.

Test your genny before you fit the Reg Rec from Mark just incase.

16v will be over-charging the battery so best to get it sorted :)
