Foiks oil leak after seals changing.

Post by PARUS »

Hi guys,

I have changed forks dust and oil seals, but oil steel leak. Not too much, but when left bike on night at garage I get blot of oil on the floor. I think it due to oil overflow - maybe I put too much oil, but I measure and put about 450 millilitres to each fork.

did you use honda genuine seals ?, you can buy leakproof garunteed ones as well, you didnt mark the fork tube , was the tube in good condition ( ie no rust or damge which may have caused them to leak in the first place)

Unfortunately, I didn't use honda genuine seals. All fork tubes in good conditions - no marks, rust or damage.. I think there only two reason - bad seal or oil overflow. Bough this one from ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda-CB ... 0066083656

i did mine in the ZX6 in the past week, and i thought they were leaking but if you pop off the dust seal and dry around the fork seal. then push the dust seal back into position and go for a ride.
after the ride pop up the dust seal and see if there is oil around the fork oil seal.

worked for me, it was just oil i used to lube the tube as i slid on the fork seal

For CBR 400 NC29 fit

Size - Fork Seal Dimension : 41mm x 54mm x 11mm (7247)

But only one questions, where is the guaranty it is really oil leakproof.
