Here's my attempt to mod a k&n filter from an astra gsi.
It's not as 'snug' as I would like, but that's down to me not measuring the housing properly.

The astra filter is big enough for 2 filters, and cost me £11. At £5.50 per filter, thats a bit of a bargain if you ask me.

good effort i say, but my only concern would be as the the lose of to sides where the rubber isnt, your going to by pass the filter if you dont have a good seal,
think of the needle in the straw effect it will pull air from where the least resistance is.
