I've fitted one on my SP1, but not a 30, I guess it could be done.

how does it connect/ sense - looking at the wiring diagram I only have wires to neutral switch that goes into the gearbox or does it somehow pick up from the ignition control.

The SP1 has a pulse from the CDI for the Rev counter, this is used on the one I fitted. You still had to then go through the gears for the unit to 'learn' the gears.
Pretty straight forward fitting on that bike, as it came with an SP1 specific loom!

had one on my fzr250 and had to use this kit, it was pretty straight forward to do so im sure it would be fine on the NC. i reckon it would be very visible on the front wheel as there is no speedo cable to run the wire down. wouldn't mind one on my 7R

They connect into the loom on bikes with an electronic speedo/revcounter and work by comparing revs/mph etc... was looking to fit one to my VFR VTEC - would be handy on my '23 tho, always going for 7th...
