Well its started to go back together, Fontyyy kindly got my tyres put back on the rims so spent today fitting the bearings in the wheels and putting them back together.

got the yoke, clipons, switchgear, throttle, switches, clutch and brake levers back on the bike and its started to look like a bike again.
Also fitted the wheels and calipers only to realise after torquing uo all the bolts at the front of the bike I have forgotten to fit the bloody mudguard so its all gotta come off again.

some pics...

mmmmm fresh powdercoat..

Well here goes...

Got the motor down to Steves and away we went..

Clutch out..

Image

found that one of the rings had welded itself to the piston but most importantly other than a quite common cracked exhaust bridge both barrels were in tip top shape.

check the top ring..

Image

strip awayyyyyy....

Image

Clutch casing off..

Image

Crank out..

Image

it was at this point we discovered that the two main (outer bearings) were fucked :(

this is my crank on the table next to a HRC F3 crank

Image

All was not lost as Steve has two new outers so a quick trip to an engineer that he knows and the bearings were pulled (he even trued the crank up for me) an two new ones fitted

mmmmmm new mains...

Image

much cleaning of gasket crap from all of the faces..

Image

Then started putting it back together..

Image

Image

Image

just the clutch to go and the last pic.

The only parts I need for the bike now are some grips and a reed basket gasket both of which were ordered today and will hopefully be here tomorrow Thursday at the lastest.

Got home today and de greased the pipes and the bellypan, fitted the screen brace, put the rad together and fitted the mudgaurd.
Fontyyy is coming round tomorrow to help me put the engine in...and iiifffffff the gasket comes tomorrow we should be able to get it fired up.

Nothing else much can be replaced in the engine now it really is almost as good as new, more pics tomorrow.

Nice one Mr Wilson. She's coming along well. Not having ever owned or ridden a 2T I'm loving the 250 Honda's more and more.

I want one. If you can take a motor to pieces as easily as that for some fettling and know it has the power too..

Hmm...

Good work Billy, but are you trying to imply from your pictures that you've stripped and rebuilt it all with the use of a swiss army knife and what looks like a leathermans tool??

I'm not buying that for one minute...............

Well Fontyyy came round today and we put the motor in...

Image

its not as spleas it sounds as you have to fit all of the gumpf that bolts to the motor, anyhoo its in and it runs...lovely steady tick over.

Also fitted the chain and sprocket, trued up the rear wheel and all of the cables, clutch, speedo etc.

There really is not much else I can do now, depending on the weather I will be able to wash all the dirty fingerprints off the bike, compound polish and fit the bodywork, rearsets and cans and then thats it until the grips and brakelines arrive.

tomorrow!!

Image

doesnt look that much diferent than when I started LOL

Image

Image

Image

and after a full strip down and rebuild this is all we had left...

Image

IF I get done what I hope to get done tomorrow there will be more pics, if not erm.....soon..ish

Well its pretty much done, just waiting for the grips and brake lines then I can take it outfor a shakedown.
The only problems I had apart from the nightmare that is fitting Tyga rearsets was the bottom cylinder was leaking so had to squirt a load more RTV sealent in there and hopefully that ill sort it.

Body work was a fair bit of work and really needs addressing properly but that will have to ait until next year now.

well whatdyathink??
