The NSR....the build starts.
you may or may not know I bought a 21SP last year and TBF its a bit doggy I am led to believe it spent a good few years living outside in bits, I want the bike to remain reasonably standard and not go the way many builds do and try to be something it isnt.
Well last year I managed to get quite a good deal and swapped the panels for some resprayed Rothmans fairings (although mine is a Pentax) got hold of some pipes from the states, drilled the airbox and rejetted to suit.
I also got hold of some 28 fork bottoms and had those fitted by K-Tech when the forks and the rear shock went in for a rebuild and last but not least fitted the SP1 calipers and Pazzo shorty levers that I had left over from when I sold my RVF (which incidently paid for the whole return to NSR shibang)
The bike runs fine and goes well, the rebuilt sussys being awesome but as the engine is a bit of an unknown its time for a top-end and me being me a full clean and polish up especially the swing arm as it is pretty badly scratched in places.
anyhoo...
here it is yesterday before I started.

and here it is about an hour later..

do you think this has any life left in it?

The engine is coming out next week with the help of Fontyyy and several bolts spending the week soaked in GT85, once thats done I can order the correct rebuild kit and a load of other stuff from Jap4, then the engine and I are going to visit our favorite HRC slut in Plymouth for a lesson in crank case splitting at the end of March.
big breath...and it starts...

Re: The NSR....the build starts.
nice sprocket / throwing star. turn it round and get another 20k out of that. it'l be reet
actually i just had a flashback of a mate who bought a 3tj from bill smiths in chester, new rear sprocket and chain, but it ate the chain quickly. came to replace only to discover a badly worn front sprocket welded onto the shaft.
i dunno these yam butchers
