What wrong with getting all the sludge out of the oil galleries with some petrolCRM wrote:yeah your right martin. fitted the new chain and fitted the rear wheel, just took the dipstick out and it was full !!![]()
dont worry its doubled its value now as there was 6 litres of petrol just come out of the sump.

Do we have anymore up dates? been reading with avid interest and waiting for the next instalment. Thought of a project name SPONGE - as it soaks up all your money??

Ah hello Jas, sadly not its outside looking pretty grubby and nasty exposed to the elements with only half its clothes on.
i was hoping to get more done over the xmas break and poss take for test, but with a family berievement its kinda gone on the back burner for a bit.
however assuming the gearbox has gears, and all the underlying niggles are sorted there is no reason why you wont hear this bad boy smoking around your neck of the woods.
used to live in ruthin, moved back to cheshire a few years back, but family and girlfriend still live in ruthin so over there all the time and the ponder is a regualr haunt.
if you see a RC30 around, good chance its mine, not seen another in 6 years up there.

WELL WELL
Project exon valdez is go. Its only been on its maiden run on the road, and only passed its MOT too.
Passed MOT with no issues, however he did comment on the alignment of the front wheel was slightly to one side.
after a bit of a waggle and check, he suggested we slacken it all off let settle and tighten, which we did and that sorted it. however i do wonder if the bottom yolk was slightly pissed. got a spare so can change it anyway.
apart from that no faults, and it rode reasonably well apart from feeling like eggshells on brand new 090's and gritted roads in a hell of a mess.
However after its maiden 20 mile run i can see there are cooling issues. it crept up to the top and went rather wooley when hot, so i need to check the cooling system, inc pump and thermostwat as rads are perfect.
speedo - reads a bit low after a had the needle off to put a sticker on. oops i put the needle on wrong then.
rear brake is wank.
fueling - it runs ok, perhaps a bit rich tbh and i want to ensure its not leaking fuel with a sticky float.
replace some fastners with better ones.
on the upside, any fears i had with the engine were wasted, it runs nice and strong and the gearbox is a peach. clutch is a bit wooly perhaps.

i would like to say thanks to everyone who has supplied parts to this build. Geoff, Spike, Ali, Martin, Rhory, Gareth, Paul, Jacknell, Mick, Ross, Alex, Al, Mark & everyone with advise and who has helped over the last 5 - 6 months with this project.
Cost - ok bear in mind i had the following already
Bodykit (apart from mudguard and V)
Forks
Shock
Wheels & tyres
Brand new OE 525 chain from 600RR
After buying the donor scrapper and all the parts so far its cost (in outlay in parts and sourcing the scrapper) £922
So in essence if i had to buy the wheels, tyres and bodykit and other bits it would have cost in excess of £1500 to build which is worrying
However i have a bike i know every nut and bolt of and am happy its been built right, also i can use without worry of damaging any of the others and not worry about should it get twatted. also when bored it will still fetch a handsome reward on the bay of e i suspect.

Looks good!! So do the Rc30 mirrors fit straight on? i thought they had different fixings?
