While on the topic of speedos

Post by buzzawak »

I got around to putting in a Speedo cable so I can tell how fast I am going, Most helpful this aspect of a Speedo. Took it for a ride and like magic the needle on the Speedo went up as I went faster. Then all of a sudden as I hit 80 KPH a very pretty red light illuminated my instruments. What a clever little light knowing that I was in a 80 KPH zone and I could be in danger of speeding. Prompting me to take heed with it’s red colour. Then as I entered a 110 KPM area, thinks to myself (didn't want to offend the little red light) stupid little red light can’t read the speed limit signs.

I do not wish to dispense with the light red light but would like to know how I can encourage the little red light to adopt a more aggressive riding style.

Are we talking a micro switch in the Speedo that is triggered by the needle or some electronics that can be tricked ?

Don't know - we just take the bulb out as our speed limits are 30, 40, 50, and 70 mph
