NC30 ignition curve

Post by whizzo944 »

Anyone point me to a link or whatever for an Ignition curve for either a standard NC30 or HRC ignition box?
I am in the process of fitting a programmable ECU to my NC30.
Thanks in advance,

Dave.

Hi Whizzo.. Welcome to the site.. Go have a look in the tech section about the programmable ignitions (thread by me..)

I have several maps used and have created various advance graphs to show the differences..

Stick about, go tell us about yourself in the newbies ;)

Hey, I was looking for this, too, but I can't find this post being alluded to. Anyone have a link?

Hello Lutorm :-)
If you follow this link, I have posted the standard and HRC ignition curve graphs there.

Cool, thanks!

Are those wiggles really real? I would have expected the advance to be a smoothly increasing function with rpm, not go up and down?

Hello,
I think the dip at 5000 rpm might have something to do with noise testing, not the engine running well :-)

Now that I'm all set up to run the ignition with my Microsquirt, I finally got around to measuring the ignition curve with the stock ignition unit. The data clearly resembles the previously posted curve, including the dips at 4-5k and above 7k, but there's an overall shift in that my points are higher at low rpm and lower at high rpm.

Hey Dave,

Revisiting this thread now that my bike is running with the Microsquirt. I measured the stock ignition timing very close to your curve. However, now that the bike is running, I'm getting pretty severe knock if I try to run anything above 35 degrees at the first peak around 6-7k RPM, even at a lambda of 0.86. Did you end up using the timing curve as measured?

I guess I should double-check that I have the timing right...
