i had a go at making a 2 stroke last year. i used a old 1972 frame and put a 500 lump in it and uprated the front and rear ends.

But sounds a bit of a copout to put a suqare 4 2stroke where a v4 4stroke once was, seeing that they have been fiting these motors to the lighter & thighter RGV 250 & RS250 for years.
Sorry guys but it makes the VFRG500 sound like a "prick in a shirt sleave".

but from what i've read (and a friend had who one and wanst happy with it) putting the bigger engine in RGV really upsets the handling, i think the RG5 engine isn't that much lighter than the VFR so the handling/balence keeps good and if you think having a vfr with maybe 110BHP is a wiast a time then im beat!!!!

Cheers

Link works fine for me

no offence but if we all had that way of thinking about builing specials then we all may aswell go and put the biggest engine you can into to lightest possible frame you and be done with it. No doubt the RGV500's are gunna make more power to weight than a VFRG500 and although ive never rode a 500 i do have a RGV250 and there scary light, a 500 must be something else. The VFR is still a light frame for the 500 lump, yeah its gunna be heavier than the RGV's but so what, could even be a good thing. I think it looks pretty good too as long as you dont look at the headlights, a decent 500gp rep.

+1. The whole reason for dropping the 500 lump in to the NC30 frame is due to the fact that the RGV frame and set up is to light for the 500 lump there for losing most of the handling / tip in ability that the RGV had as an 250.

So where do you for the next step up in weight and great handling ? The NC30.
