Re: Engine swap
That motor's so much wider than the 400 or 600 motor (and the carbs, etc.). I measured one up for my 3TJ (I have 2 spare EXUP 1000 engines) and thought better of it.
Good luck if you can do it but I don't think the frame's wide enough.
What's that motor putting out on the dyno?

Re: Engine swap
it can be done but every one ive seen has and the frame heavily modded with the bottom of the frame near the rear engine mounts cut about though these used fzr1000 engines, but ive had a yzf750 with a 92 fzr1000ru motor in and the 750 motor is 10mm shorter than the 1000 lump so it might be easier with the 750,but if you do it keep us all posted on your progress.fzr400s with 120 bhp-yes please

Re: Engine swap
It's not worth the bother. The 3TJ frame can't take the power / weight, it breaks the steering head. The frame needs the rails shaved and then you have to line the sprokets up.
The 600 by contrast will bolt straight in with two plates at the top making it a much easier and the cranck casings are common so the sprokets line up.

Re: Engine swap
You could go down the 660 or even 727 route. Most the project work is converting the old 3he engine, which with the thundercat barrels ( bored out for the 727) will fit straight into the frame only requiring plates at the top. No frame mods required (well i hope not).
Im currently building a 660 which uses the standard barrells/ pistons from a thundercat(i've got bits all over my kitchen atm). I have a benchmark dyno reading for the standard 600 motor (86 bhp) so i can see what i have gained from the mods. Im getting the head ported and fitting race cams.
Where are you in Hull? Is it you ive seen on the yellow 3tj?

Re: Engine swap
Would the motor fit in an r6? Plenty of them out there!
If you fancy a ride out give me a shout!
