Road to Track to Race
Having owned & still own various ZXR's, CBR's, & VFR's
I have decided the NC30 is the one to have for a full time toy so basket case purchased, and sourced a series of obvious bits of kit I guess the question is where to go with the bike, funds as ever are relatively limited so what I'm looking for I guess is the key things for improvement on the bike.
At the moment its a frame and swingarm on stands.
I'll build it from there with the purpose in mind basically as close to a full racebike as is possible and if I end up spending any more time and money on trackdays perhaps thats what it'll end up being for - entry into F400
So advice anyone

Re: Road to Track to Race
get the suspension first, nice race shock, and some up rated front forks.

Re: Road to Track to Race
Budget not being unlimited a rebuilt RS unit is currently underway addition of a spring to suit my frame should by all means make a big improvement, perhaps further through the year maxton may end up with (another) order from me
Up front Mr Oliver seems to offer a few upgrades for the forks does anyone know anything of these ?
Simmo - Nice ZXR by the way !

Re: Road to Track to Race
cheers mate. :D
the rick oliver fork upgrade kit is meant to be a very good piece of kit. plenty of people on here have them fitted, so am sure they can back it up.
suppose brakes are the next on the list then?
-sp1/fireblade/cbr600 calipers?
-ducati brembo calipers?
-braided lines?
-race pads?
-race discs?
-bigger master cylinder?
there are a few options for you to consider.

I recomend the sp1 caliper braided lines and bigger master cylinder
if you dont mind me asking how much do you weigh? I was gona get the rick o kit for my bike that i will be racing this year but as im only 9 1/2 stone was recomended just to rebuild the forks first, then see about upgrade

Forget caliper upgrades, get some braided lines and decent pads.mrdidlydingo wrote: funds as ever are relatively limited so what I'm looking for I guess is the key things for improvement on the bike.
If the calipers are in decent nick front tyre grip will dictate how hard you can brake.
The standard nc30 calipers are good kit.

Have a look on ebay for some bargains, i got mine (cbr600 calipers, master cylinder and braided lines) for £90, thats the same as a new set of braided lines and pads, there are bargains to be had if you look for long enough

Re: Road to Track to Race
Thanks Spike. I read your post and thought i have 5 mins to kill, so got my ass on eBay to look for some callipers. guess what I got a pair of 04 CBR600RR callipers with lines M/C and lever for £50 yes £50. Bargain of the year and I am only in Jan. Get in.
I had been looking for SP1/SP2 callipers as I had got a set last year and for the same kit it was coming in over £100.
So thanks Spike.
