CBR400 NC29 Tyres
Hiyah
Can anyone recommend tyres for my NC29 ? Are Bridgestone 014's supposed to be good ? Think I have a Michellin on my back and Dunlop on my front at the moment, they are obviously very soft as all manner of stones andf what not get stuck in them
thanks in advance

Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
cheers I have just been to check my tyre sizes
currently I have a michellin radial 150/60 ZR17 on the back
does this mean a bridgestone 160/60 ZR17 will not fit ?
I don't get the significance of what the size is telling me
the 090's can be got from here

Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
you dont need ZR rated tyres on a 400. in fact IF you come off and insurance co inspect your bike and see ZR tyres on. they WILL invalidate your insurance as the correct speed rating is H for NC23/29s and most all other 400cc bikes.
asked a bloke at the BMF who sold tyres if he had BT090/092s in stock.. he said "never heard of them!" walked away after that.
they are getting hard to find as they are no longer manufactured. only stocks left are old but the price still the same!

Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
Surprisingly my local Honda dealer have always been the cheapest to supply me with tyres. I can't say I've ever had trouble finding BT090's... When I bought my last set I had a choice of more than five local tyre suppliers who could order me a set within two days at the latest. Same again when I got a BT092 rear not long ago.
I strongly advise NOT to purchase BT090's unless you purely ride your bike for pleasure. Any commute or extended travel on fast straight roads and you will be throwing money down the drain! They're extremely soft and sticky - excellent if you go for a blast on rural A-roads every couple of days, as I did with my first BT090.
I'm now trying a 92 as I have used my bike more and more to get too and from university rather than hit the twisties

Re: CBR400 NC29 Tyres
thats a NEGATIVE over...if your bike is fit for the road in that regard, i.e. will the tyres pass the MOT? then your fine...leopard_pagan wrote:in fact IF you come off and insurance co inspect your bike and see ZR tyres on. they WILL invalidate your insurance

"Full fitting service available"
i dont think i am going to travel 3/4th up the UK to have tyres fitted.
ok if your local to you..
tell ya what.. why not call your insurance co and ASK them about the tyre issue.
trust me its something thats been covered many times on the old forum.
Most of us know that the speed rating is important on 400 bikes.. ZR tyres dont warm up as fast as H rated tyres.
